View Full Version : thud sound on 1994 runner

So lately when I apply my brakes or let off the brake I get this thud or knock sound on driverside front. .once in a while it does it when I hit a bump too. And also when I hit the brakes it pulls to the left but only pulls when brakes are applied. What could be causing all this. I would rather not have to take this to someone. If I can fixit myself would be best.funds are limited. I was feeling around to see if there was something loose but came up empty handed. Any suggestions much aopreciated thank you.

How hard are they to change? Something I can do myself?

Advice from the internet is worth exactly what you paid for it.....take the wheel off and get in there with a pry bar and your eyes and it should jump out at you. Idler? Ball joint? Wheel bearing? Missing caliper bolt the what ifs and maybes are endless really.

Jack it up and with the tire on trun the tire by hand like it's steering and if it's the a arm bushing then you'll see the a arm moving

Ok iwill try that. What would cause it to pull to the left when brakes are applied?

troubleshooting online is like giving a hair cut over the phone. cody a warped rotor will make the steering shimmy. i would suspect the caliper it its pulling during an application in one direction..
