Help, its been a long time since I did this. I am helping a friend put back together a 1985 GMC Jimmy 2.8 and the wire harness for the Distributor is bad. That is no big deal I have a second Distributor to put in. The problem is when I pulled the Distributor from the block the shaft that drives the oil pump did not come out with it. As well it appears to be broken off right below the roll pin in the Distributor I pulled out. My question is this. One can I simply and carefully put the second Distributor in with out the shaft hoping to connect to the on that was left behind? Or do I need to pull the motor back out and drop the oil pan and pump to retrieve the shaft? Any help would be greatly welcomed.

Brilliant, I honestly never thought of that. I will try that when I get back to it later.

Thank you...:)

Shouldn't be a problem to install it over the shaft that's there

Thanks Guys, I got that taken care of. Now to finish all the wiring and emissions. Hopefully test fire late Wednesday.
