Black smoke and diesel knock. Shouldnt have either of those on a common rail engine. need to plug into it to test injectors. No codes.

Do you have the sottware to plug into a dodge cummins?

Think it will do a cyl cut out test.

It's got 13.2 software and euro.

Maybe its time for an upgraded fuel pump and filter system could be getting to many contaminants to the injectors.

Sounds like injector(s) leaking? Pricey but could be worse, if it was a Ford it would need the have the cab removed to do the head gaskets lol :D

dirka dirka did a cylinder cut out test, all appeared normal. no hard starting, no white smoke. idles smooth.

going to make the exhaust a little more free flowing and a cold air intake..... if its getting to much fuel why not give it more air lol

My boss cracked a injector on July long, cost him 4800 in parts & labour for stock injectors and labor to have them installed,

But I bet they didn't have to remove the cab to change them lol! :D

My '06 5.9 had a weird pinging/detonation under light load going uphill and pushed just a little black smoke (only noticed it when cold backing out of the driveway). Always wondered if it was going to cost me money but it ran that way for a couple years before trading it in. I'm not a diesel tech so figured it must have been normal :dontknow:

Used to go to bd(valley fuel injection) whenever I had a problem with my 2001 and they always managed to diagnose and fix it first time around. Bit pricey but worth $ to not hafta go back somewhere over and over.
