anything with either the 22re or the 3.4L, don't get anything with the 3.0L. So anything up to 92:dontknow: I think, and 96+.

I Have two 4Runners and both have 3.0L. and mine are a 90 and a 91
I don't see the issue with the 3.0L, mine both run strong.
Have had the 90 for 4 years now, and the 91 for 3 months.

I've never had a prob with the 3.0 either.... I've beat them and I'd buy another

Personally. I find them to be sluggish pigs on fuel with low power output. I'd still take a 3.0 over most other engines out there, but after having worked on so many, I just think Toyota has better motors to offer. That's all. Longevity wise, they're pretty good if the head gasket, water pump, and timing belt have been done.

I'd go for a 96-02ish 4 runner. love mine.97, 3.4 auto fully loaded, drives great and hasn't let me down yet..... oh and it has 473,000km on it. got good fuel mileage when I got it, now, as expected with high mileage, its not as good. 7-8km/l. used to be 9-10km/l

Well the milage thing between a 22re and a 3 slow
From kamloops to abystan filled at same pump in loops to same pump in Abby
My 88 22re runner took 30 cents less fuel than buddy's 88 3.0
I'd be more worried about rust than what engine

By the gas tank rear frame rails by the rear spring mounts
