First... What is the best sounding Muffler for a 22RE
Second i want a bigger radiator because my cooling fan never disengages.
When im cruising at 110+ kmph the temp gauge starts to climb and the engine bay always seems really warm to me.
where can i find a larger radiator that will fit with minimal modifications?
thanks in advance!

A v6 rad will bolt in but didnt seem much bigger
And more exhaust flow leans the motor out creating more heat
And by your cooling fan on sounds like your running a electric fan
Is it pulling air or pushing air out through the rad not a dumb ? Seen some good car builders do it don't heat up in traffic but over heats on hiway
And bigger rad won't cure overheating because of lousy tune on motor
Buddy has big trick be cool 4 core rad in his big block olds and still overheated
My chevelle wagon has a big block that makes more power than his
And I have a single core aluminium rad from a 4.3 s10
And never had a overheating problem

ok ok ok, i now realize that i should have given you more info.......
thermal clutch fan seems to be working and pulling air.
engine is stock and still has stock exhaust with a couple of holes in it.
i just dont like how warm the engine bay gets after a drive as well as the fact that the temp gauge likes to climb when im at highway speeds

Got any mud stuck there hampering air flow through the rad ?????????

Sounds like the rad might be gummed up. Go for a boot then park it and feel the rad, see if there are any physically cooler spots. A 22re should not overheat if running properly, you shouldnt need a bigger rad. Fix the issue that is causing it.

Do a coolant flush, replace the thermostat. Cheap and easy. See if that fixes it.

I ran a Magnaflow (forget the model, cheapy unit, $50) on my 22re and it sounded nice, no cat.

ya shouldnt over heat ..
id also think maybe a bad rad....
thermostat no workin properly

fanclutch shot?.

i can beat mine all day long in the summer////
exhaust can get the undrcoating on the florr bubbling........
but temp rarely moves even slo crawlin....

did full coolin system rebuild last year...
i had overheating probs while on the trail ....
turned out enough fins were bent clogged in my rad that it allowed for the temp to climb.. once it climbs due to inefficient cooling it will keep climbing in temp....until u stop workin the truck...
.

.
i think somethin in ur cooling system not workin properly...

id diagnose that problem b4 i did a bigger rad upgrade...

and any muffler sounds fine EXCEPT A GLASSPACK.....
those n 4 bangers is like nails on a chalkboard.

I have never had it over heat. the fan clutch never seems to disengage.\
the only thing i have to compare it too is my old 89 carbed 22r truck. that thing never seemed so warm and the fan would shut off after the first 5 minutes of driving

Stock gages ??? They can lie had one I thought was running hot
According to gage flushed cooling system new thermostat
Changed rad to a v6 one I had that was fairly new
Still running hot checked with a temp gun was 120 deg gage read 200
Put after market gage no hot running
As for fan running well if its getting warm it's going to stay running
Fan running is a symptom of something else
Pooched thermostat or no thermostat
Yes no thermostat will cause it to over heat
Coolant circulates to quick through rad to cool off
And test the thermostat before you put one in
I've had faulty ones new
Temp gage and a pot of water on stove

Yeah stock gauges. I'm loath to cut them up and make a custom cluster.
The temp gauge sits a little below half unles I'm on the highway in 5th at about 3000rpm. It then starts to climb towards the red zone unless I slow down.

In the morning does the mechanical fan stop after about 2 minutes of idling? It should. You may have a screwed fan.
Find another one (tons of them around and super easy to swap). Go buy a water pump, thermostat and belt, you are in there anyways. Drain the system, change all the parts out, fill back up and see if that fixes the issue. Process of elimination man.
