Other option is to just buy a new crate engine sometimes it ends up being cheaper and comes with 2 year warrenty

If it ran good and didn't smoke I would just fix any leaks paint it up
and run it
Kind of a if it ain't broke don't try to fix it
I did a gm crate 350 in a 40 ford was about 1800
Stay away from bond or those bulk engine re manufactures
Every one ive seen have had issues from the beginning
We've had stuff machined by lordco in maple ridge
The guys there are good there
Talk to Frey as someone else mention
thenthere's dirka
I'm pretty shure you can't put head gaskets in backwards in a small block chevy

If its not smoking or running rough just put some new gaskets on the valve covers and oil pan and run it till it gives up

Want more ponies? Torque? No...... paint and gaskets and reinstall. ;) find another runner and rebuild it have on a stand for when and if spikes old mill shits the bed. SBC was the first enginen I ever rebuilt, extremely simple and the satisfaction of hearing it run after is incredible.
