Has anybody been out to Bamfield this week by the main or Lake Cowichan logging roads?

we're considering a trip out there this weekend, just wondering what the roads are like.

Probably not the best place to ask an Island question. 90% of these yahoos live on the mainland.[cheers]

it can get quite snowy in parts i havent done it in a couple years but i dont remember much hills either way but tire chains couldnt hurt.

Ive got early spring and its cool out with snow on each sides.

hey there,

all that is pretty true but.. we have been often enough to know the roads. It can get pretty bad and can remain uncleared for indeterminate amounts of time, especially via the logging roads past Lake Cowichan which can suffer from washouts and rockslides... otherwise its the long way around..

I'm not really worried about my chances in the Trooper, though I don't have chains yet, but the other driver is in an awd wagon...

all that said; the trip was cancelled so it's moot now.

thanks!

if you really want to know check out island4x4 or blackflag. Someone on one or both of those sites will be able to answer your question.

at a minimum youd need a ton of fuel, chainsaw, full chains, jacks winches etc.

id personally only take it in two decent 4x4, if by awd you mean a car or yuppie suv
