started out needed a motor when i baught it.swapped that in and drove as is with 6" skyjacker lift and 33 mickey thompson baja claws 3.27 gears open/open
drove like this for couple yrs then wheel bearing issues came about had the tire fall off decided to sas it with a Dirty 30 with 4.10s picked up for $150 put in a 2004 8.8 with 4.10 added some 35x13.50 r15 Toyo Open countrys got 5 on wheels for $1000 like 95% tread drove for a bit then baught a lockrite locker for the rear drove around for a yr with those axles no problems came across wicked deal on f/w 44/9" 4.56 detroit rear spool up front and 38" tsl's for $900 so lil while after that went under the knife again and now sits with about 8" of lift total f/w axles highsteer.thanks to B and the guys at jeep thrills for gettin the steering to me so fast. bushwacker cut outs still on 35's the 38's were a part of the cost of 4 skins labour.

Nice ranger man , the 44 was the best thing I did to my ranger , I drove mine till the ttb was so fucked that the axle shafts where binding on the ttb housing , ripped it all out and went with a custom narrowed 44 and a EB 9" with a spool and 31 spline chromo's [cheers]

Nice man looks killer , looks like you made your own radius arms? Did you use Hime joints ?

4skin
10-23-2012, 05:33 PM
The arms are kind of a copy of the xj long arms
They have a bushing on the lower diff mount
A creeper joint at the frame mount
And heim joints on the upper arms that mount to the lowers
The arms mount inside of were the ford radius arms mounted
Did that so the tires don't rub on the arms at full lock
Always bugged me not getting full steering without a big offset on wheels

Yea that sounds like the set up my brother is doing on his ranger , I have dana 44 wildhorse arms on my truck there 12" longer than stock and have a bend in them closer to the bottom for tire clearance , I like them just need to get some Himes on the frame mount end , the busings aren't too bad but they wear out pretty quick , that will defenatly be one of the next things I do

Go with creepers if u can. They r not much more than a heim if i remember correctly and they r rebuildable. I picked up my creepers and rear spring perches for under $100 and the perches were $30-$35. At Sport trucks unlimited in langley.

The creepers we used were threaded but the Dom I made the arms with
Was 7/8 inner dia
So I just took them apart slid the shank inside the Dom
And welded them in

Yea I had my diffs narrowed and built then a bunch of fuck around time trying to find parts I needed plus lack of motovation at points contributed lol , it's been sas'ed for a few years now but theres still a never ending list of things I want to do to it lol , got 2 other swaps going on at my shop right now too my bros building a 89 single cab and my buddy's building his 91 ext cab too lol

There great trucks pritty well all I've owned is rangers explorers and bronco 2s I know them so well it would be stupid to change plus then my parts shed would be redundant lol

Once my bro and buddy get there junk done we should hit the trails [cheers]

94Ranger
12-16-2012, 12:10 PM
The spool is a love hate thing. But it came in the diff when a baught em so i'll deal with it. Ideal i woukd like a selectable locker up front.

Yea the spool kind of sucks
One thing I did was mount the links at the same width
As the ones on the 30
Eliminates the tires rubbing on the arms even with the small offset wheels
We got to try keeping overall width down
