So I got myself a 12 foot fiberglass boat and put An electric motor on it. What battery have you guys had good luck with? Right now I'm just pulling the battery out of my car but it only last a couple hours of useing it I want something that I can depend on to get me back to the dock unlike today when I had to row home.

you will want a good sized deep cycle, not a starting battery. deep cycles are made for a slow discharge of low amps then a recharge, where starting battery are for a quick burst of high amps. a deep cycle will survive the discharge/recharge cycle better.

i rigged up a pretty gnarly set up on a 12 ft for my boss. 65lb thrust running of 4 6 volt golf cart batteries. with a 80watt solor pannel on the front seat. never charged the batteries on a 1 week fishing trip.
but before we did that he was getting a full day no problem with 2 6 volts. really depends on you motor the lb thrust and how new it is. their should be a amp rating on it. find that and how many hours you want to use it and match a deep cycle batterie that can support the amp/hours.
