New 79with a 460 has a brand new Holley 4 barrel on it.

It runs to fast unless you kick it down then it idles good , but as soon as you step on it its idling fast again.

Real hard to drive that way.

Anyone know if its a adjustment or if its missing a spring to pull it back down after you step on it?

Make sure your choke is hooked up. It has the fast idle pull down linkage. If that is working fine then adjust the fast idle screw for the choke. It is located on the right side at the choke linkage, Good luck.

what kinda of choke? if electric it needs power to heat the bimetallic spring. iirc they take power from alt but check a wiring diagram

Its a electric choke.
I put a spring on the throttle but its not right theres something wrong.
Spring kinda works.

So you guys think i should mess with the choke?
I never even looked at it Ill check it out thanks.

my advice is to buy a book on Holley carburetors and learn how to tune them.they might run out of the box, but without tuning, they will never run right.also buy yourself a vacuum gauge, you're gonna need that.when i bought my Holley, it came with a tuning video.its very good and can be downloaded from the Holley website i believe. http://holley.com/TechService/Library.asp

if you cannot make a holley run you cannot tune any carb
easiest, most documented carb on the planet
