So i live in chilliwack and im curious if there is a place around here that i will be able to hang an animal or 2 in a cooler for the required time and then butcher it myself? I know most places probably like u to pay for them to cut it up too but we have done it our selves in the past but that was up in williams lake. And up there my uncle is a butcher so he had the coolers/freezer. So if anyone knows of a place that i can just hang it let me know please and thank you.

mattdroz on here knows a guy, they hung his bear there and skinned it, prepped it for meat, mabey pm him and ask, i think its out near deroche area thou...not really chilliwack, but..

how about don't hang it. Just chop it up the day after you shoot it.

i think letting the animal cure is better

Yah u need to let it cure/stif up for about 5days , any longer makes no difference , its not beef

My deer are pretty tasty unaged, so they must be like butta at 10 days :)

Most wild game should be hung for a minimum of 5 days, but i guess its all personal preference. Remember your meat only tastes as good as the care and attention you give it.

deer dont need to be hung hanging deer is a great way to wreck it . bear the faster it is processed the better

Never hunted any other species of deer other than mulies and whitetails, But the ones we grow in the kootenays are not the best meat on a good day. I prefer to hang and debone all cuts since wild gamey taste comes mostly from bone and fat. I've taken acouple bucks from saskatchewan in november while rutting and gotta say they are the best eating deer i have had, can't beat grain fed that's for sure. Maybe coastal deer taste better and may not require them to hang, even still can't seem to figure you would ruin your deer by hanging it:confused0006: .

My butcher talked me into cutting one without hanging years ago gave me a whole speal on why and sure enough he was good. only time one hangs now is if theres alot of deer at the butch and he cant keep up

Hey, It was more of a family friend dealio, and for bear cause we needed it hung in cold storage for a large animal. Umm depending on what date like opening season or anything just let me know and I can ask
