my brother in law has a 89ish jeep cherokee at his cabin in 100mile.

its stuck in park ( floor shift) and the ignition only goes into acc, it wont go into run or start position.

other then it being a jeep, whats the problem and whats the fix?
can of gas and match?

I know I am just a girl but check the park release switch that is at the top of the brake pedal under the dash..... Mine is doing that. Also there is an adjusted by the shitter as well if that one wasn't just so I couldn't turn my key all the way off.

Did he fuck with the NSS at all? If he replaced it and tightened it down too much it will do that, try shaking the shifter,

i just replaced the ignition cylinder for the exact reason saturday. i had my doubts because it moved freely and perfectly between lock and acc. it never gave any warning. it just stopped working properly

Like Ray said...steering lock will prevent turning to start. Move steering wheel!
