I need to shorten a steering column 7"-8". Anybody know of a machine shop that could/would do that?

Aryton Senna is the former F1 multiple times world champion he died as a result of the Williams team cutting and rewelding his steering colomn in his F1 car it broke and he drove head on into a wall doing just under 200mph find a machine shop who will custom make you one it would be a lot safer in the long run [cheers]

Yeah it's for the 49, but its out of a 94 Dakota. Called a couple machine shops, but the couldn't do it. I thought about sleeving it after cutting, but still don't know if it would be strong enough.

the dacota one is going to cause ither isues as well
all the wireing harness kits are set up for a gm colum
and the borgsen steering joints and double d shafts are readily avalable
for the gm
sometimes its just better and easier to follow the herd
most guys use a gm colum
if you can find a early 80s gm fwd car they have a fairly short colum
or buck up and buy a ididit colum they make all kinds of diferent length colums
im dealing with a toyota colum in my willys and if the stock steering shafts hadnt worked out so good i would be changing it my 2cents anyway

I have put the 49 cab onto the 94 chassis but the column was way too long.
