On my 22r rebuild I decided I would go with a bigger altornater ado I decided to go with a gm cs130 since that's what I had laying around.. Has anyone here done this swap using the 3 wire not 1... I'm trying to figure out if I should put a resister on the light circuit and cut out the light cause I don't think u can run both (but I would rather keep the dummy light) or should I install a diode and the light hooked up on the L pin

Nm I decided to run a diode in series with the check light

biggest problem is the position of the alt on 22re
my runner ate a alt every time i got stuck in the tank trap

I have tried all kinds of alternators, chev, supra, and custom.

I have spent a lot of money, and now I just run a stock 40 amp.

Thanks good to know... I'm going to give this a go.. I kept having an issue of cooking my alt with my winch so then I had it rigged up with dual battery's and a marine kill switch to cut it from the charge circuit while using the winch

I have no personal experience but I have heard the 130 overheats and folks prefer a 144. I will be looking you up when I am ready to upgrade mine...oh also someone suggested looking into a newer ad244, saying they run cooler with higher low rpm output and can be found in newer junkyard GM's...same bolt pattern as the cs144 All hearsay.
