If u didn't have to spend on that time on ur Ford it probably would of been done faster:dontknow: So we starting a pool for how long those axles last and the bigger ones go in?

Happypants
07-22-2013, 06:38 PM
We need to start a pool for when ur gonna have your shit done terry, what's it been? 4 years? lol

I'm not gonna beat around the bush, there was a lot of shit that happened with the jeep, the yellow body was rotten, the wiring was unbelievable!! Things happen, we tore that truck apart with the intentions of having it done sooner than later, but a car accident, 6 months of physio, barely enough money from Mandy and I to live on, at the time she was on disability cause of her shoulder, I was on ICBC bullshit payroll getting 40% of my wage from them which was just enough to pay rent, to finally getting better, dealing with the financial/physical/emotional bullshit that we had gone through was a headache enough, we finally got back on track and started making headway with the cj, only to have te fucking thing fall off the god damn trailer when we moved to our new house, at that point I was ready to scrap the truck! I was done, the ONLY reason it ha any work done after that was because of people like Aaron,Mandy, jason and Reese kicking me in the ass, helping me with the truck till all hours of the night, taking time out of their day/weekend to push me into getting the jeep done,
And for that I'm totally grateful for their help, and we never once didn't thank ppl for helping, weather there was beer supplied for help, or Mandy making wicked dinners for us while we were working on it,

So....[cheers]
Thanks for the help! It's very much appreciated!!

eh check for a corroded connector in the chain going from the switch to the bulbs front ot rear, if there's a bad connection anywhere, it'll cause that kinda BS.

forgot that I had these sitting in the backyard, for a few years lol, pulled them apart, cleaned everything up, nice thing is everything off the cj, like the rotors and calipers will work with the swap, as well as the wheel bearings, its got the small bearing spindals on it which is what are on the cj as well,i forgot I put brand new balljoints on them before I put them on too lol all Im gonna have to do is chop the drag link bar to proper length and re tap it for a one ton TRE, which is perfect timing, cause I gotta replace the TRE`s,wheel bearings & balljoints on the cj pretty quick anyway,

So went to potatoe fest, came home with the front axle held in place like this,
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad21/nicksxj/4690087F-B0C1-4FFF-88C5-C2EBAA1E8899_zpspswsswrf.jpg (http://s918.photobucket.com/user/nicksxj/media/4690087F-B0C1-4FFF-88C5-C2EBAA1E8899_zpspswsswrf.jpg.html)
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad21/nicksxj/61D1633C-6883-470B-946E-1925EB547349_zps8wyu8uyo.jpg (http://s918.photobucket.com/user/nicksxj/media/61D1633C-6883-470B-946E-1925EB547349_zps8wyu8uyo.jpg.html)

So I had to pull the front diff anyway to get the center pin fixed/replaced, so I figure, why not toss the 44 in, see what I gotta do to
It to get it in there, SOOO!! Turns out the scout 2 dana 44 wouldn't fit in directly, so off came the end of it, chopped 3" off it,
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad21/nicksxj/9D60D565-6BBE-46AF-B19C-3CAEE386BC65_zps4zsfj8sf.jpg (http://s918.photobucket.com/user/nicksxj/media/9D60D565-6BBE-46AF-B19C-3CAEE386BC65_zps4zsfj8sf.jpg.html)
Then I took the my sawsall to the inner C, cut it right at the weld, lopped that off then I cut a bunch of cuts inside the inner C and then chiseled the old tube out,
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad21/nicksxj/2D93D7D3-6936-4F5B-A835-42B1A42D6E9D_zpsup2rzmdn.jpg (http://s918.photobucket.com/user/nicksxj/media/2D93D7D3-6936-4F5B-A835-42B1A42D6E9D_zpsup2rzmdn.jpg.html)
Cleaned it all up, and then made sure that it was all clearanced and fits back on, a little work with the dremel inside it, worked great, got it on n what not, so I'll be heading out soon to buddy's to have it in the oven, then caster set and welded up :)
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad21/nicksxj/64DAAB4D-DB6C-4154-BA4D-14A123AED563_zpshr3npyyi.jpg (http://s918.photobucket.com/user/nicksxj/media/64DAAB4D-DB6C-4154-BA4D-14A123AED563_zpshr3npyyi.jpg.html)

Oh and I had to drill out the hole for
The center pin on the 44 cause it looks like there was a seized center pin in it prior,
:D improvise lol
http://i918.photobucket.com/albums/ad21/nicksxj/39A0A0BA-DD0C-4ED7-9AA5-61016597B70E_zpstz0xzjlr.jpg (http://s918.photobucket.com/user/nicksxj/media/39A0A0BA-DD0C-4ED7-9AA5-61016597B70E_zpstz0xzjlr.jpg.html)

So I gonna measure and order up a custom length shaft for the one side, then 2 chromo outters and another chromo inner, as well as a locker for the front as well, but for the time being, I'll have the D30 back in there squeaking away lol

probably had the dist out and didn't grease the gear when reinstalled or sat to long and the gears dried out. When they go like that you have to replace both gears, cam gear is separate and bolts on the end of the cam. They had issues with inadaquate oiling of the dist gears and there is a mod to improve that.

When they go like that you have to replace both gears, cam gear is separate and bolts on the end of the cam. They had issues with inadaquate oiling of the dist gears and there is a mod to improve that.

How do u check to see if that mod has been done? And where can u get the gears locally? Help me out here Mikey, I'm always willing to learn,

Water pump looks good, BUT! It's still getting replaced, I'll get the rest off tommorrow, see how bad the cam gear is and then order some parts from bulltear,

Parts are rolling in, got a blown amc 360 for cheap, but good parts motor, hoping to see if it's got a good cam set in it, hope it does, water pump & timing set came in, timing cover is all purdy clean & ready to go back, also ordered a set of msd cam gears that I'm hoping will work since the rugged ridge ones I got DIDNT fit, lol pics soon,

Small update, motor is back together and running really really good now, did a msd 6A ign swap on it, also put a main line breaker or "kill switch" so
In so that nothing happens either while its sitting, rear diff is still broken, picking up a rear 44 from a scout, as well as a bunch of
8 bolt shit too, the rear diffs coming out of this thing shortly, the 44 will be in for the time being, gonna drive it for the summer, while I'm figuring out what I'm doing for the 8 bolt shit, and once I have all the 8 bolt stuff, I got the front 8 bolt hubs and rotors, just need a few other things here and there for it, but I think the 8 bolt stuff will be a winter project,
