Parts used:
Steering coupler from a K-car (I stole it out of a dodge spirit) - $8.50 from pick and pull
scrap piece of tubing from the shop - Free

Took about two hours. Shortened the steering shaft approx 1 3/4". The coupler is the correct splines to go into the truck steering box, but the spring pin is not in the correct position. Reshaped the end of the shaft to fit into the coupler, and drilled a grove into it for the stock bolt. My rag joint is still in good shape, so I reused it, but I plan on removing it and replacing it with this style coupler later.

Verdict? Works great, steering is nice and tight again. Well worth $10.

I think I'm going to find some way to make a slip joint into it, just havn't decided how yet.

well i did this to my truck last weekend. all i can say is wow. My truck actually drives in a strait line with out me swinging my steering wheel from side to side.

i used a vector shaft from a wheel drive dodge, which is quite a bit shorter. But all i had to do was use a shim in-between the steering column and vector shaft.. and a slight bit of grinding on the vector shaft
