So my column (the tilt steering joint and up) seems really loose. I can shake the steering wheel up and down... Pretty sure i broke something from using the wheel as a handle to haul my ass into the truck, but what did i break? I'd prefer to get the part before i take it all apart... And fix it before it pulls a JJ... I do have a ratchet strap incase tho lol

Any ideas, is this a common thing i can just pick up or do i need to take it apart to find out?

snap on makes the tool for the pins. on another xj we just swapped in a non tilt, much quicker :)

It is most likely just the tilt pivot bushings have worked loose. Not hard to fix if you have the right tools, I rebuild these colums all the time. I can probably do somethin to help you out as I am right around the corner from Rob. [cheers]

Animal tinkered with it for awhile and got it all figured out. (thx dood [cheers])...

As for me I replaced the clutch fan bearing and that whole assembly, and the 2 pulleys and bearing above the clutch fan... But my motor still screeches, chasing down the water pump next i think...

Was a good night of wrenchin

air bag colums are different than the older colums and do not mount the same in the XJ they changed the firewall and colum mounts in late 94 when they added the air bags to them

I know it's pointless to say this!!

Plus the little stub is too short where u connect your steering linkage!!

In other news, i just found out i havnt been getting oil intothe head for about a month and a half. Oil pump or something is shot. Sprayed lube in there and all engine noise went away

Ah if your oil pump wasn't working u wouldn't get a month out of your engine

Your push rods are probably all gummed up inside stopping the oil from the lifters from getting up to the rockers, I've seen it a few times on them old AMC 6's

I had a squeeky motor before the stroker, pulled valve cover and had one rocker was bone dry and almost rusty:D

Sounds like im gonna be pullin the rocker.. Hope this weather holds up!

Oh, any opinions on doing an oil change with atf and doing another after? Couple people said that might help as its a detergent while a couple others said thats a dumb idea... :dontknow:
