View Full Version : Feral Horses

We were out driving around the other day and came across some feral horses. There are 2 herds around the area. This is the closest we have gotten to them before. This herd is made up of draft horses. The original stallion escaped from its owner MANY MANY years ago and started up a herd. The big bay (couple pictures of him standing alone) is the original stallions son. It was really cool watching him moving the herd away from us. I love watching wild horse and how they interact with each other. We got within 200yards of the stud (in the truck ofcourse!)

awesome pics where abouts where they taken?

In the chilcotin, this heard is about 40minures outside of WL, they can only be found during the winter. Come spring they travel quite aways and are extremly hard to find.

Some inf on wild horses in the chilcotin, this is mainly abotu the horses in the Brittany Triangle and Nemaiah valley.

Im hoping that one day wild/feral horses will be protected! there isnt enough cattle anymore and the grasslands need something on them during the summer!

great pictures love the first couple with the snow on their backs! when i was hunting just north of Chetwynd in August there was a herd of wild horses. We rode right past them on our dirtbikes but my brothers 2 stroke spooked em. another group on atv's rode right by then just before us and they were almost within arms reach. They are definately interesting to see. The herd had a black stallion which they gave the boot and he came running across one well site and my thought it was a moose lol
