METRO VANCOUVER - Search crews are scouring logging roads and woods north of Mission for a pair of missing hunters.
RCMP and local Search and Rescue members, with the help of a search plane, are focused on an area near the 2 km mark of Sylvester Road, said police spokeswoman Cpl. Sharon Sulich, early Tuesday morning.
The pair of 26-year-olds went out in the early hours of Monday morning.
Authorities were notified about the missing hunters late last night. Two people who reported them missing are helping with the search, Sulich said. It's still very early, she said. "These guys are experienced," the officer added.
Their vehicle has been located, but crews continue to search the area's network of logging roads. "You can get turned around in there," Sulich said.
One of the hunters is from Delta, and the other is from Surrey.
"We are doing everything possible," Sulich said, noting that the hunters did have a cellphone with them, but it may be dead, or out of range.
Anyone who may have information related to the hunters' whereabouts is asked to call Mission RCMP at 1-604-826-7161.
More on this to come ...

easy to get lost when your dead.

Sure hope they are ok.
I agree it would be hard to get lost in that area, making it more likely that something went wrong, hope I'm wrong though

Heres hoping for their safe return. Being we know the area well lost does seem hard to accomplish but if your not from there and don't play there I could see it happening especially if they are off the beaten track .

Breaking: Mission SAR rescuing injured hunter

Published: November 29, 2011 10:00 AM
Updated: November 29, 2011 1:15 PM

Mission RCMP along with Search and Rescue (SAR) teams from Mission and Central Valley have found an injured hunter after scouring the Davis Lake area.

According to police reports, two hunters were returning to their car yesterday, parked 4.5 kilometres west of Sylvester Road, when one of them fell from a ridge and was injured.

The uninjured hunter stayed with the man throughout the night before hiking out to the RCMP command centre on Sylvester Road this morning, which then triggered a SAR.

As of 10:45 a.m. SAR has located the hunter and is beginning rescue. The full extent of the man's injuries are unknown but there is a "serious hemorrhage" to his knee, making it impossible for him to walk out by himself. Early reports are that he is in "good condition."

Mission SAR had been looking around the coordinates given by the one hunter by land and with an airplane.
