holy hell what a great quad she has been

i bought her from carter as a rental lease return from wistler
paid to much for a used quad thats for sure [16]

she is a 05-06 and has about 8000 k on her

i have never done a thing to her except ride like hell [36]

but its time for a full maintenance job on her

started stripping her last night and was thinking about all the plastic parts i have in a pile on my floor ( CAN U PAINT QUAD PLASTIC SUCCESSFULLY )

or should i just order some new plastic ?

want to make her look a little better than all the other honda 400's

and before you say just go buy a grizzly my answer will always be

" are you kidding ? i can drive circles around your 700 even with your fancy ass IRS and power steering"

being light weight with squash-able fenders and a solid rear axle is fucken great[36] and i wouldn't trade it for just being able to hual ass up a gravel road .

the big quads are good for the long hauls but for trails i like my honda.

nice quad always wanted a honda but stuck with yammy. everyone thinks the bigger the engine the better it is but really thats not always the answer i got a 450 wolverine and its the sport quad and i love the thing because i wanted a raptor and a 4x4 so i went with this and couldnt be happier with it the thing does donuts around the big boys and its super light weight compared to the other machines out there

looks great, dont bother trying to paint it, ive done it every way, it still just scratches off, i think they sell plastic kits with cool designes for fairly cheap.

i like the smaller quads , that quad will fit inside my boat (two mc fit fine also:) ),perfect size for exploreng.

I think you can get special paint for the plastics that melt into the plastic.

What about the camo stick on stuff that is getting more common.

camo skicky thats a great idea thanks kyle

was thinking of finding a plastic paint and doing it black and grey but i like the camo idea and that might be more cost effective than new plastic [cheers]

ya friend of mine did his rhino all camo with the paint and fern's look but did cut out's of ak's and ar's and shotgun's and suck it looked really pimp as with all painting prep and the right primer's and paint make all the differance to a long lasting good job [5]

Bigger dont always mean better. The only benefit to the bigger machines I see is less rider fatigue and faster. The way I see it tho if you aint tired at the end of the day you aint riding.
If you smash your fairings around alot then the paint wont stick or last to long and you'll be left with red plastic showin through your flaky camo. The plastic they use is PPO and has release agents built into the plastic for the moulding process. Nothing that dries will bond permanently and look as good as new.
My take on quad plastic ride em till they fall off and replace as needed. I think I got one or two screws left holding mine on and a couple zipties for kicks.
Don't go to the dealer for your brake pads you'll pay double what an independent shop would charge you and do the work yourself its real easy.

I don't remember you kicking all of the other bigger quads asses at all I do remember you getting stuck in a big mud hole that you were warned not to go in and I also remember my 700 breaking trail for you and everyone else (as the snow was to deep for the smaller quads) so you could get home.......

The only difference between larger and smaller quads is the rider. The only advantage the larger quads have are speed and torque which make them better on long fast rides and very steep long inclines. Other than that both machines are pretty much even. Eric I wouldn't bother painting the plastic it will only scratch off when you rub up against trees etc why not try Craigslist and see if anyone has any camo body panels for sale? My neighbor did and he got a complete camo set for his 05 500 Polaris for $250. If anyone wants a complete yellow plastic body panel set for an 05 500 Polaris he will let them go for $50 [cheers]
