alright guys, this may have been a thread or two. but I'm having some difficulties with bending pipe, got a 12 ton pipe bender from pa. 1 1/4 sced 40 grade b. i moved the rollers all the way out to the last hole, well lubed and still getting a bad kink in the pipe, now i have made plenty of bumpers and stuff with these and seem to work great, but lately all it does is kink, could it be the pipe possibly a bad batch? I've tried it all, not sand tho. take to long, jd2 is coming shoon but need to make this work for now, any suggestions?

take a piece of sheet metal and crush it in the die with your pipe
so its like a shim covering the grove in the die
a honda fender works good lol
when you get your jdsquare bender you wont be able to use sced 40 pipe
any more unless you buy pipe die instead of tube die
get the tube dies if youu want to do cages and rollbars
dont use pipe its not strong enough

pipe is a description of a measuring standard, so pipe can be just as strong as tubing
which also could be the problem with the kinker, what pipe are you trying to bend? should be written on it

Get yourself some chunks of 2"sch 80 and split it to make 2 half shells and place them on the outer points so they roll in as required. Otherwise get the jd and 1.9 dies. I love mine and no problems.

pipe wont pass teck at the race track years ago me and a buddy built 2 sandrails his was built out of sced 40 pipe
mine was 120 wall crew
we crashed racing oversome berms one landed ontop of the other
both bent but there was a obvious diference in strength
if its for safety build it with quality materials safety isnt something to cheep out on
whats the diference in material cost a few cents a foot??
the dies are several hundred
just sayin

Usually if pipe or tubing kinks it is because the shoe or dies are the wrong size for the product being bent.
