Can make any thing fit . but seems like it could be lots of work . If your new truck is f 250 a diff out of 350 same year is abolt in with all right parts .

its either a 60 or a 44, but either way, its a high pinion on a 78/79 f250.

you also never stated what your DD was, other than a 1990.

yes, it can be done. depends on how much you know and how much skill you have if YOU can put that axle in your truck.

make sure it is not an early closed knuckle 60 . getting parts for it will suck

actually the 79 crewcabs still had the low pinion open knuckle disc brake front end

and the big headache for you would be moving your spring perches

the older style front ends have different spring perch widths. I would say unless your building a custom link suspension like a radius arm 3 link or 4 link, go with a dana 60 from a similar year 1 ton. 87-92 f350 has what you need. stick to the pre 1993 ones as they are a kingpin style, 93 and later are balljoint

must be a crewcab only thing cause the 79 f250s I have robbed difs from were club cabs with high pinions
maybe the crewcabs were aftermarket installs for fleet sales???

79 crew cab dana 44's were high pinion and spring perches.
If it's a hd then it would be a low pinion.
5 lug d44= high pinion ( in that year)
8 lug d44. = low pinion
8 lug d60 high pinion
