Long story short peeling and burnt paint (from welding) looks like a bag of smashed assholes, So ive decided to "fix" it but not really into pulling the body off and painting the whole thing. Yet.

so heres where im at, the original color is White. Im painting the edges and possibly the center of the hood/cowl a semi flat black to match the fenders.

Was wondering if anyone had some advice on what to use to clean the surface right before laying down primer and how to either avoid an overly sharp edge or blend the edge of the fresh paint with the existing paint.

i can post a useless picture of what it looks like now at the moment if anyone wants

you cant realy blend a semi gloss you need to paint whole pannel
or section of stripe not realy shure what youre trying to blend
any time you do stripes you wind up with a ridge
untill you clear it and wetsand and reclear

i wasnt sure if that was the right way to describe it but either way ive got dick all for painting experience.

So wetsanding will get rid of the ridge, wont that fuck up the exsisting paint though?

you would clear panel over every thing and wet sand the clear
without sanding through the clear and re clear
but you would lose the semi gloss
on anything with a semi gloss stripe there is a paint line
but with only puting 2 or 3 light coats
the edge is less than a sheet of paper
