When i re-pack mine if I see black marks on the bearing I buy a new one. I'm thinking it's caused by heat marks and for the price I might as well just replace.

Do you just repack yours and get more use out of them or do the same?:dontknow:

if they are black lines, its the beginning of corrosion.

If they are not pitted repack em if the cage is still tight repack em
if u are unsure replace em
keep old ones for trail spares....
also use a good quality grease. Ie high heat high load and water resistance...

WOW! mine are still original from 1985 with 430000km, you should have bought a Toyota.

Just keep up your servicing and repack them every year and they last!

is there something that people are doing to cause premature failure ? not putting enough grease in them? makeing them too loose or tight? not checking them periodically?

why so bad ? are you useing a lithium grease? mabe a highspeed drive after water sports is needed so water doesnt sit in the bearings?
