6.0ltr with a 203-205 doubler....whats the wheelbase gonna be? all rear stretch, or full hydro with a front stretch too?

100" W.B. This machine will be driven on the road for some outback venturing as well as krawlin. Thats why I went with the doubler and opted to stay with a 4:10 ratio for the hwy. Tires are 39.5 sx swampers.

Nice build Randy why not use a black box instead of a doubler (poke poke) keep the pics coming

429orangepeel
02-10-2011, 12:23 PM
The only reason is I already own one. It would be sweet to have a Black Box the are shorter and 1/3 the weight and shift nicer. I ended up acquiring the 203 after the build was started so a few mods have to be done to my skid plate slash tranny mount.

429orangepeel
02-10-2011, 12:29 PM
Shifter mod. I did not like the idea of a 36" shifter with a 2 ft throw between gears so I come up with my own shifter. It has a 4" throw between shifts. I still have to do some mods for the tripple sticks but thats already being worked out.

I was waiting to see if someone would notice. Tunnel pan is out of a 79 Bronco with a few nip and tucks. Ford parts just seam to fit. Drive shaft looks like its gonna be around 27".

is that Troy's ol jeep ?

429orangepeel

Yes I bought it 4yrs ago and its been in the shop ever since. Its one mint tub no rust no dents. We are finally getting the project resurrected.

m j
02-12-2011, 08:31 PM
you can shorten the np435 by about 6" with a customized dodge mainshaft
would gain you some driveshaft length
27" is about at the front spring mount though isnt it?

429orangepeel
02-13-2011, 04:55 AM
I have left a email with a company called Novak looking for a shorter mainshaft. This company offers all sorts of Np 435 mods. The 27" measure was taken when the Jeep was stretched on leafs and the front was 33".

m j
02-13-2011, 09:44 AM
novak and advance sell a short 23 spline mainshaft for adapting to jeep transfer cases, they dont offer one with a man sized spline count
Kyle at NWF might have one as well as he deals with the same companies that make custom shafts
I had OTT do mine but they are no more

429orangepeel
02-13-2011, 10:35 AM
I never thought of giving Kyle a call, but your right I will do that. There is always these minor little things to take care of. Its a good thing time is on my side.

Well here is the new wire harness from F.A.S.T. It is a plug and play harness. For it was worth Id rather build than screw around trying to figure out the wiring just to short out the computer or something. This harness looks factory and is made to hide the computer behind the dash. All the plugs are weathertite plugs. The extra fuse box uses your standard ato fuse.

Any plans for some kind of oil pan skid plate? looks like it is hanging down there.

429orangepeel
02-17-2011, 09:09 AM
Its just the angle of the shot. Transmission mount is actually only 4" below bottom of frame. The plan is to cover the bottom with 3/16 plate and the cover it with UHMW. The oil pan looks scarry though I have many ideas for this just havent got to it yet. It looks like I might have to modify the oil pan for some more diff. clearance. When you stuff the drivers wheel the pumpkin gets a little to close for my liking.

I broke my 23 spline main shaft. NP435 to 203. broke it right off. I guess you shouldn't fully side step the clutch on dry pavement with 42 inch tires.

that looks like a stock truck pan

look into a ls1 f body pan with the improved racing baffle I run it in on my 6.0 in my buggy. if you run crazy angles over fill it by 1 litre and your good. you will need the ls1 windage tray and pick up tube if you go the route. I got mine off ls1tech.com in the for sale section.

had to run an ls1 pan to keep a flat belly

Isn't your upper link at the frame end for the front going the wrong way?

Noticed that as well
Have you cycled the susp to see if that's going to bind
As long as it doesn't bind should work fine
Never seen one mounted that way though

Looks weird but it works great. I cycled the front and have full 14" of travel both sides. The problems I did have though were the panhard bar clearing the crank pulley under full compression. The drag link is very tight to the frame under full stuff on the passenger side. For this reason I am going to c notch the bottom of the frame for clearance. The 2.5 Fox coilovers very tight but they just clear the frame by 1/4" under full droop. We did a quick test for articulation in the shop and got 44" under the front tire. No bad for a Jeep. I have to say though my Bronco could do 40" on leaf springs.

So found some time to finish the rear frame section off. I ended up using the tank cross member for the cab mounts only. I removed it though and modified the shit out it. The rear frame cross member I removed and made my SMF rear bumper the crossmeber and weld it to the frame rails. This gave me more room a tank. Today I go get my drag link and tie rod so hopefully tomorrow it will steer. I know its been awhile since I posted on this project but it still lives. Sometimes between the house, work, no time for play. Right now Im trying to do my roof and what a can of worms I oped up. The house is 80 years old so you can imagine what I found. I will post more pics with steering and some front end articulation.[36]

Super clean build and great choice with the 6.0L I run that engine in my truck and love it. she going have a some nuts! The super40 flowmaster muffler sounds awesome behind that mill. Do you plan to run cats or what direction are you going for tunning?

429orangepeel
11-12-2013, 05:27 PM
I was thinking of 2 into 1 set up. Basically from headers it will be 2.5" x 2 into the Flowmaster and will exit a single 3". No cats in this truck. We are changing the head gaskets to the multi layer steel. I have a Power Dyne Supercharger that might go on one day.

Well its been sitting for a few months , but back at er again. Finally finished the rest of the fab work over the holidays. So now comes the paint. I tried a hammer tone paint but looked like shite. So repainted it with a epoxy paint meant for roll bar and frames so they say. Great xmas present getting this all done. Now I can start the assembly. Went and picked up a new electrical cooling fan. Its a Flexlite p/n 188. Designed to fit a Mustang radiator. It pulls 3300cfm @ 17amp. It is a S blade with 8 blades and is 16" diameter comes with a awesome shroud that is 4.5" deep. Hopefully this will keep it cool. I had to get rid of the clutch fan because I did not have room to hook up my 4" air intake. B.C.C. is re flashing the computer this week and needed my F.A.S.T. wiring harness so I cant start wiring till next week. Today I pick up the mandrell bends to start the exhaust system. It will be a 2 X 2.5" dual in and a 3" single out. The tail pipe looks like it going have to be some kind of art in order to get it around the rear 4 link and the run it down the side of the rear frame rail. More pics to come. [cheers] and a Happy New Years ! I dont seem able to upload any pics I will keep trying.

with the top off on that thing and the exhaust straight out the back it gets sucked back up into the cab area and you won't like that lol.

Hey! I wanted a rad that worked the first time. I have a V8 jeep rad but it had no steam port bung and I didn't like the top and bottom tank design. I needed to have both inlet and outlet on the same tank for more intake clearance up front. I also have the Flexlite fan to go with it. Piss me off though I cant find the fan controller, I bought this stuff years ago now my brain seems to be turning to mush! Sucks getting old man.
