Truck is a 1985 22re and today the rpm gauge starting working periodically also the charge light and handbrake light are now on and the auto AT temp this truck has a 5 speed swap and I have never seen this light come on and the swap was done 5 years ago. I did just hook up a radio could this be the issue that caused the problems. I drove the truck all day with the charge light on and it never died Huh??? I have a yellowtop (2 years old) with new terminals also added when I put in the stereo the other day, so I dont think its a battery issue or connection issue at the battery.

Forgot to mention with the truck running when I pull the negative terminal the truck dies right away. So leads me to believe its an alternator issue.

first I'd check the battery voltage when its running, Should be 13 to 14 volts.
