So i went to Whistler for the weekend a few weeks ago to attempt callaghan lake, unfortunatly we got turned around at 2km by some sledders... apparently callaghan valley is closed for the winter for sleds and such:mad:

so we just screwed around in the Whistler Olimpic village for a few hours till they closed

The view from ryans place:eek:

My dad has been back and forth to pemberton and through whistler, said there was ALOT of snow there for the time of year. Looks like a nice little trip.

I always laugh when the snowmobile people get mad at you for driving down "there road/trail" when its just crown land anyone can use. Here the only place closed to trucks in my area is greystokes i belive, and I got wheelin just behind my house and the snowmobile people get all pissed off cause we are ruining their trail, bunch of BS in my opnion. But whatever

so true, i have been up there in the summer, so whats different about the winter, its an active FSR is it not? the guy in the front was pissed at first and said that we drove over there hill they made to keep trucks out, i told him i thought it was a jump for me... he didnt seem too impressed, we talked for a bit then he started joking, asked us to turn around at the next turn off because there was a group of 40 or so coming down

It's all a matter of respect for other people's activities. I used to sled every weekend and it's soooo frustating to have the trail mangled by a truck, and yes, it gets mangled for a sled. part of what is frustrating is that sledding is the shortest season of all of the FSR using activities, so it's appreciated when people allow that time for the sledders to do their things and enjoy the roads. I understand snowwheeling is the best wheeling without a doubt and know a lot of guys that do it as well, but they also make an effort to avoid main sledding areas where guys like to ride or that are a main access into the backcountry for the sleds out of respect for them. it's kinda the same deal as when guys take their quads and rip up the hills that the kids use for tobaganning and then they chew up the trails that are using VERY often by snowshoers, or like guys on dirtbikes that ride the mtn bike trails..... yes, by the letter of the law it's all crown land, but it's not that hard to respect other guys activities and not be a prick about it.

oh ya, and there is other areas you are legally not allowed to wheel on during the winter.... they are legally leased for the winter by a club or association. fyi....

cheers

^I don't have a problem with the sleds, but it should have been more clear that it is closed to sleds for winter, rather than build a 2' tall speed bump that I'll try and jump, they should have a sign or a banner, after we talked to the sledders, we had no problem leaving. but for them to flip out when there was no clear indication of us not being Alloud there in the winter wasn't right. I mentioned when we were leaving they need a sign
