So I managed to make it to Ladysmith light up for the first time since ...1999 or before.

I don't remember the parade being quite as long as this one was! I enjoy parades and all... but this one was REALLY long! ...still good though!

I got a few pics and video clips :) To give you a quick idea of just how long this parade was, first my memory card was filled and I couldn't take any more pics or video, had time to go through & delete blurry shit or irrelevant crap, take more, and then the battery died... and the parade still wasn't over.

Attempt to get a shot of some of the crowds (basically like sardines, all the way up the street)

Ladysmith has public transit now if you can believe it (just not when the festival of lights is on because it's in the parade) This is their one trolley.

Giant truck (I have better pics of this beast on my cell phone if I can ever manage to get the phone > computer connection working I'll upload them. For its size its actually very nicely done.)

Was lots of fun, didn't stick around for them lighting up the Aggie Hall, big tree, or park by the hwy or for the fireworks because we wanted to get home before the crowds.

Definitely some awesome floats and performances in the first video (will watch the others later)

Maybe after 100yrs Ladysmith will reach that level but considering how small the town is presently I'd say they do a pretty good job... (Pretty sure islanders are too lazy to go all out like in those videos too... hahaha)

The town I used to live in in the UK was about the same size as Mission the people who live there are all carnival mad there lives completely revolve around it. There is usually a minimum of 170 floats plus walking entries and it takes around 2 and a half hours to wind its way through the town. Google Bridwater carnival videos there have been some real impressive floats over the years. The last 2 videos I posted are the undisputed kings of the carnival and they compete fiercely against each other there carts cost approx 250000 each to build every year
