So i was just told by my father that im gonna need a new rear diff in my 92 4runner. 1 question that i have is: This code that is found in the driver side on the door jam how legit is it going off that and going off the code chart for gear size? Or the Jack up the vehicle and do the tire and drive shaft rotation to figure it out? Im new at this and have no clue. Plus u i dont have the money to take it in to get it fixed. So im trying to figure it out myself. Any help with how i can figure it out would help. thank you.

pop the rear drive shaft off and look at the color dot on the pinion nut,It will be blue, white, yellow or pink then go from there.
wanna know fer sure Take the third member out and count the teeth ,then you know for sure

its probably 4.10 unles it came with 31 inch tires then it should have 4.88 with a auto 4.56 standard
one way to check is mark driveshaft and tire
roll truck while counting ds revolutions

i will try the rotation thing first. I did the code thing and it was a 4.875 on the chart. Then i will go with the take it apart and figure it out part.

I know 4 guys with 90 4runners and we all have 4.56
2 door and 4 door ones.
What's wrong with yours?
