Get the key from any 1983 toyota wiggle the key and turn the ignition to accessory push pin in the bottom of the tumbler assembly and pull the ignition out. That's why they get stolen so much :(

machine keys work. take the vin in to toyota and get one cut or pop out a door lock and get it done.

is it a pickup or runner? if its a pickup just get the sawzall out and cut the square peace that goes from the key to the colum. Once threw just pull the locking peace out and you will have steering and will be able to start it will a screw driver or anything else flat. Just did this to a 90 pickup a few weeks ago

Thanks for all the replies. This truck is a xcab long box with the ignition in the dash, not the column. In fact I may have a toyota 83 key since I got a couple old yotas in the back 40. That sawzall idea sounds very interesting.... I wonder if a crackhead would have a sawzall but then again it would have been pawned off a long time ago, lol. I was thinking of putting this sr5 xcab with the v6 in it on one of my old yota straight axle frames. Or I wonder how easy it would be to attach a straight axle here the IFS is?? This SR5 I got has a 2" body lift but the box is half rotted... Figure it would be a fun crawler plus hunting truck. Good xcab to lay the rifles!! The 2 old yotas I got have front straigh axles but both need new 22R engines. I wonder if the 89 V6 and fuel injection would fit in one of them?? The 2 old yotas have 22R engines except both heads are different and the one that ran has no regi...

$20 and the Cariboo Locksmith Lady cut me a couple keys but I had to get the door lock out and that was tough. Held in with 2 bolts with nuts imbedded in plastic which ripped out of door handle so I'll drill a couple holes right through the handle lol She need the code off the door lock....

Gas cap had a clip yet she did not take it apart. The clip was rusted in and I just let here decide. She took lock out of doorhandle. First time I worked on a yota, 80's chevs are so much easier... plus she was so cute to watch work on the door handle!! I was thinking does she like to work on 4x4's then I remembered I'm married....;)
