I buy them in threes and send the two broken ones back.

Apparently you can replace the voltage regulator with the HEI module from a GM but I don't know how.

Always broke

Just ditch the dodge one and switch to a modified single wire Chevy alternator and stop throwing money at it , get a used gm alt and get it modified then your finished , usually $20 to $40 used then another 20 to fifty to rebuild it and convert it to single wire ignitor style. So for less the $100 you have fixed the problem forever!!! ..........

Just Sayin' , Yo , Doode

I agree with Todd on everything but the single wire conversion to the Delco alt. I have had nothing but trouble with the single wire delco's but the stock three wire delco's are almost bullet proof, and reasonable in price. Also if you want to spend the money you can get a delco based alternator in up to about 200 amp output. I run a stock 120 amp delco on the CJ.

the plug on the gm alt has 2 wires a heavy red one
and a lighter gage wire that goes to a triger wire hot with ignition on
the heavy red loops to charge post on alt
and a wire from charge post to batt
done lots like that

3 wire alternator has a 2 prong plug that turns the altenator on. And a 1 wire Alternator turns on when the engine revs up above idle kinda thing.
