had the belt off 100k ago did a bunch of work

put a brand new belt on when i put it back

no squeal

then had a coolant leak ( upper rad hose ) coolant got on the belt and made it squeal

noise went away for the most part

didn't drive for a few weeks

drove it today and holy hell is the squeal loud :dontknow:

used a bar or soap on the grooved side of the belt and it went away completely for about 20k

now its back go fuck yourself

belt seems pretty tight can only push it down about 1/2-3/4 ''

any idea's

wd isn't so much for lubing it as it is for displacing moisture. The coolant takes forever to evaporate off.

you better make sure it infact was too lose and not just wet to tight of a belt will fuck all sorts of shit up. I got coolant on a brand new belt and it squeeled for a good 3 months before it dried out.

would be smart to piss all over your motor bay to get any more moisture out then cover everything in mayo.

belt dressing just covers up the noise, it'll come back.

When a belt is squealing it usually means it's slipping, why would you want to put a lube on it? :dontknow: If it's soaked in coolant, it's probably done as it gets into the fibres but give this a shot anyways...........

99% of the time this works, take a wire brush (put safety goggles on first)and with engine running CAREFULLY touch the bristles to the belt ribs, a little pressure will remove most of whatever is stuck in them. Gotta be careful, if the belt catches the wire brush it'll be gone out of your hands in a flash and will probably throw the belt and do some damage - seen apprentices with a stunned look on their faces! :D Done this hundreds of times, sometimes just a short term fix.

Gator belt from good year if its not a pulley problem.
