Decided to go look for some mines in the Slocan Valley. Didnt find some we we're looking for, and did find others... Some at 7000 ft!!!

Was the old mill site below the last switchbacks burnt? I was up there with a buddy about 2 weeks before that fire started, got some good pics of the mill and the old engines (Fairbanks-Morse I think? Same as the one at the top but were in great shape). You should have gone up Springer creek from Slocan city, lots of mines to check out up there. There are a few up Lemon creek but the roads are pretty grown in, was on the quad last time we went to them.

ya, the old mill site was affected by the fire. We tried to make it to the top mine, but lost 4lo just before the last scramble up (some wierdo thing, got it back by the bottom). Thanks for the springer creek tip, next year when we make our annual Castlegar trek we'll need to go that way :)
