1991 Nissan Pathfinder SE, 3.0, auto, bit of rust no biggie...thinking of picking it up for a winter work truck. It's fairly cheap and has almost 300 K on it ..... what do you think? :dontknow: Any known problems, shit I should look at? Thanks......[cheers]

[cheers] The frame was bad. But I would probably still be driving it if the timing belt didn't break.

Check for a rusty frame in the rear wheel wells, where the driver's feet sit and under the back seats. Like 99% of Pathfinders, it with have rust in the bottom of the rear door jams, just in front of the rear wheel wells. Also, if you do buy it, pop in an aftermarket tranny cooler. The stock one is prone to getting plugged.

exhaust manifolds pop studs but they still run, fuel senders corrode and you lose
power to pump, poke frame with screwdriver above rear axle.[cheers]

yes do the timeing belt.
I can give you a step by step to make sure its doen right, (its easy)
I can do it in about 2.5 hours.
This is the only thing that will destroy a nissan V6.
the part is 20 bucks. (or less)

also, since its an Auto, put in an aftermarket tranny cooler.

Get some manual hubs for it.

Drive it till it dies in about 20 years.

My pathfinder when stock, was the best driving rig i've ever had in the snow and slick roads. (other than a subaru AWD)

the Autos are not the best, the manuals are bullet proof.
How much you paying?

oh ya, and its normal to have a broken exhaust stud.. i've had 2 for over 10 years.. no biggie really. but a PITA to fix

check the frame inside of the rear tires (on the outboard side of the frame)

91's were not bad, for some reason, 94 and 95's had much bigger rust issues.

you will not find any rust on my 87

Thanks everyone, I went and looked at it, the pictures looked way better, I think they were from when it was new. Pretty rusty, like Toyota rusty. :dontknow:
