Until they have kids they can't judge ... A couple hours a day , half an hour to get it uncovered set up the tools and start the work then, say goodnight and bath the kids , then get the lights set up .... Get called back inside cause one won't seem to go to sleep, go back outside workfor a FULL half hour, start packing up cause it's really dark and you have dropped the same little screw twice and have had to look for a new one in the the misc bolt and screw can , now it's time to clean up cause it's really late and you have to work inthe morning ...... So does that about sum it up for the people without two kids?

would prolly be faster if i knew what i was doing:o but its fun to learn

one of the bolts on the exhaust was fuckerd so i took the grinder to it

prolly shouldn't cut stuff i cant see.....

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t83/mrtuna/build%20thread/IMG_0019.jpg

darrin poped in and had a look

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t83/mrtuna/build%20thread/IMG_0020.jpg

says its not such a big deal and the donut will prolly cover it..i hope
if not i guess a little weld will work

anyway to hot today im done for now [16]

make sure you get a brand new manifold gasket, there cheap, really cheap, or your truck will rev at 2000 rpm and wont come down, also make sure you clean the surfaces really well too,

dont go cheap on the exhaust manifold gasket, I tried that, the cheap ones just dont cut it in the long term. the dealership has a better quality one that will garantee to seal.

Well i missed the newbie run :(

but it was necessary if i wanna get at least one run in this summer :dontknow:

got lots done today

heres my progress [36]and fuck ups [16]

new exhaust manifold is in

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t83/mrtuna/build%20thread/IMG_7141.jpg

new water pump in

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t83/mrtuna/build%20thread/IMG_7140.jpg

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t83/mrtuna/build%20thread/IMG_7139.jpg

intake back and clutch fan back in

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t83/mrtuna/build%20thread/IMG_7146.jpg

i had a few issues with big hands in a small place to my kiddo came out to help

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t83/mrtuna/build%20thread/IMG_7142.jpg
http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t83/mrtuna/build%20thread/IMG_7145.jpg

now heres the fuck ups for today

once all intake/exhaust bolts were placed in hand tight i still had 3/16 of an inch gap at the rear of the seal :dontknow:

looked for quite some time for a reason for this problem and couldnt find anything so figured i will put a little torque on the bolts and maybe it will fix it self................WRONG............

i snuged em up and still there was a gap :confused0006:....then i sat and starred at it with a perplexed look and all of a sudden with out me even close to it ...BANG... it snapped into place[36]

but then i noticed this little chunk of jeep at my feet :(

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t83/mrtuna/build%20thread/IMG_7147.jpg

and even found where it came from

just above the flex tube is the pin you use to line everything up
http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t83/mrtuna/build%20thread/IMG_7149.jpg

looks like i was off by just a little :o

from there it went back on pretty good and sealed up nice...i think

next problem was the donut thingy

how the hell do ya get that thing on straight anyway

http://i158.photobucket.com/albums/t83/mrtuna/build%20thread/IMG_7155.jpg

i think im just gonna take it in to a exaust shop when its rolling and have them do it :o

now my question to mikey

um sooo um :o where do these go ????.......i hate extra parts

I did the samething truck now has an MSD box and new distributor and coil just need to install the rev limiter but need to order the right module and swap the springs for the mechanical advance. Won't be wheeling it till I get u-bolts and do the suspension lifted since the front springs are so sagged now that I back out of my driveway and the tires rub the fenders. And both rear springs have worn halfway into the main spring. Nice to see its going back together and not nice to find extra parts.

why bother with a wrench if it needs to come off :dontknow:

The stud and nut with the heavy washer is one of your exhaust man to head studs . . . 1 stud at each end of the cylinder head and 1 stud right in the middle at the top

The nut with the built in washer looks like the nut that is supposed to hold the TDC sensor wire to the stud at the rear end of the intake man that holds the injector rail in place.
