Buddy wants to trade me a Ford 390 crate engine. Never been used. He bought a piece of property that had the engine sitting in a shop on the property. Previous owner died, Buddy says engine is immaculate and clean... Says its painted blue, lol. I'm going to see it on the 18th so I 'll have more info on it. I wonder what its worth? $1000 to 2 g??

just make sure its actually a 390.
WAY too many people think that all FE blocks are 390 (even if they don't its ALWAYS a 390) even though the 352, 360 and 390 all have the same block markings.

get some pictures. theres quite a wide price range when it comes to crate engines, like is it a stock replacement or aluminum headed stroker? the price for the second one could be 6g's +

I'm going to go look at it on the 18th. So what id on engine am I looking for to know its a 390? I see some ford engines have a sticker on the valve cover. Maybe all the paperwork is still with it. I don't even know how long its been sitting there. My buddy that now owns it says he thinks there is an auto tranny with it too. I know he would be interested in trading for a complete good running tracker or other small 4x4.

no real way, the 390's had a different damper on them, but its hard to tell unless you have them side by side.
Hopefully there is something with it that says.
if not, you gotta pull a head to measure hte stroke.
