i just had a idea, but am not sure if it would work out properly, or if im just gunna be wasting my time.

i have an 88 mazda b2200 2wd with a dead cyl just sittin at my dads house..... good solid frame very little rust on the body...etc was thinkin of doin a 4x4 conversion weld in some home brew crossmembers for tcase etc.... and add a 22re motor or maybe a 4.3l vortec, or even a rotary????:confused0006: but am not sure it would be worth it....
also would like to know if this can all be done on a $5000 budget
what do you guys think?

Dream big or go home I guess. For 5G you can buy a rig ready to go.

why not just take your $5000 and find an already built rig? You could get something pretty decent for that money. It always costs more to build than buy, you get it now, and you don't have to worry about destroying your DD either.

buy something built or atleast 4x4
it can be done if you can weld fabricate yourself
as for under 5 grand that would be tough to have something reliable built with good parts
but there is some decent built rigs for sale for less $$ and you would have cash to do repairs and upgrades

yeaaahhhh i know lol:ballsmack i was just hopin that i wouldnt have to let it go to waste, but i will probably just buy one then..... and i will be buying a $1000-$2000 civic or somethin to burn daily....probably cheaper on the ball joints etc...lol just gotta get rid of an oldskool camaro project and my ram first and possibly the b2200 lol but nobody wants it:dontknow:

Always cheaper to get something with 4 wheel drive already and upgrade parts then to build it from a 2 wheel drive. Could always sell the mazda to someone in need of parts or a solid frame for a few more dollars for ur buget.

put a wrecker 2.2 in the 2200 and daily that!

if you have the skills im sure it could be done.

worth it? i dunno, hard to say. depends on how much value you put on building something your self and doing something different.

whatever you do, DO NOT put a rotary engine in it.

no good, not for a 4x4. and yes, i've had experience with this.

isnt that the engine you used for you but plug Pathy ??? Or was that for Murdumb's?

scrap it. start with somthing better

start with a 4x4 if you want a 4x4...you will have a lot of work to do to convert a 2wd into a 4x4, not worth it.
