Popping appart my dodge 205 tommorow. I need to put the input from it into a ford 205 case. I basicly have some internal concerns. Do I have to swap all the gears or can I just swap inputs? I've stripped out another ford case just to remember how they go together, bin years since I rebuilt a 205. I'm gonna try and just swap the input to start with.

Any thoughts?

is the dodge 205 a 29 spline? if it is, i think the dodge input bearing is a bigger out side diameter than the ford so you would need to machine the ford case to fit it:dontknow:

was going to do this once befor and cant remember why i didnt :confused0006:

perfect idea if bearing dieameters are different sometimes you can get
diferrent bearing with iner and outer dieameter you need

Think its just different bearings sizes , should beable to do a mix and match .

can you post pics of the bearing differences
the ford will have the big bearing bore like the 32spline chevy
if the dodge is bigger then that is a third case design
my recollection is that the dodge is just a chevy fig8 style input pattern case, so it would have the small bore case

thanks for pics
chevy fig8 case bored to the large bearing size,
a chevy guru would be able to say if that was used behind th400s from the factory before they went to the newer 6 bolt round pattern

so the dodge trans uses a coupler to mate with that shaft?
is it an auto or getrag you are using?
iirc the dodge pattern is a differently clocked version of the ford round 6 pattern so adapter will be easy

Using the getrag. Not by choice, more by coin.
