im wondering if a 84 floor pan will work for an 82 pickup....?
my plan is to chop and cut the old one out of my 82 and replace it with a new floor pan.... but i can only find and floor pan for an 84
will it work?

probably not. or would need work to make fit. shifter holes would be in different spots.

would probably be off by just enough to make it not work...without a bit of cutting and welding;)

I know its a bit more work, but it is just a floor...

Could you just use the parts you need from the 84 floor and patch them into your truck? Knock the tops off the welds and spray a shit-ton of bedliner on there and it'll be all good.
