anybody done this without buying a kit
just picked up my strait axel to start swap in my 88 runer
want to use v6 ifs rotors and calipers cause ive got them:dontknow:
any ideas much apreciated[36]
thinking of 3link & coils just collecting parts on the cheep
right now IFS SUCKS

take a look on priate4x4,it can be done with 4banger ifs parts... what kinda springs you goin to run up front ?

or what ever falls in place
gota get ifs shit outa way do some measureing
want low cg gona cut for clearance[7]

i want to use stuff i have
the v6 rotors and hubs fit the spindle
it looks like it will make it wider by aprox 2 in each side[36]
got to finish cleaning goo outa housing
and hang it back together to do some more test fitting:D
and figure out calipers
gota get camera and document how it works out

The ifs rotors will not work. Use the ifs hubs, and fj80 rotors, and the ifs calipers, and it all bolts together... You just have to grind the caliper mounting ears on the axle so they are flat on the outside facing surface.

I like my IFS on my luxo.

I have the setup that you want on my 82.

I used disks from a fj 80, calipers from a 91 V6 4 runner and a grinder for some trimming.

did you use strait axle hub or ifs hub
the 88 ifs v6 hubs i have are different
rotor to hub bolt patern than non vented rotors:dontknow:
so are fj rotors same bolt patern as non vented??

FJ80 not to be confused with FZJ80, May just be easier to ask for FJ or BJ60 rotors.

I have the hubs and calipers from a 90. Used a vented rotor from an 80's fj, which I had to drill to bolt it to the hub. The fj mounting pattern is different, but the wheel bolt pattern is the same. There is about 1.5" difference in where the wheel mounting surface is compared to the orig straight axles mounting surface. So the 2 of these combined make for 3" wider than the orig.

This pic is kinda deceiving, cause its pretty damn wide looking with my 2wd fenders... Doesn't look so bad here.

to hub as strait axle hub
do your calipers line up like stock

The fj rotors have the same bolt pattern for the wheel lugnuts, but the bolts that hold them onto the hub are different. The holes that the hub/rotor bolts go thru need to be drilled. The calipers bolt up, but on the opposite side of the ears from stock, so you have to grind the side of the ears that will be touching so they can fit up to eachother flush. If you go to the pirate FAQ, you will get all of your answers there. Its too easy...
