OK...so thought I could get some input...am I crazy for wanting to turn my '79' 2 Wheel Drive F 250 into a sweet 4x4?? Its got a 460 in it right now....hmmmm :dontknow:

if you can do all the work yourself, go for it. but if a shop has to do it, it will be way cheaper to just sell that and buy a 4x4.

Always a lot of work to convert from 2wd to 4wd good luck

Yeah...I would never pay a shop to do it...I wanna learn how to do it myself...between my boyfriend, my dad and I, I think we can do it...I just want to make sure its worth it. I think it will be a good project...I don't care how long it takes...might be something good to learn with. The truck has been in my family since I was 10, so kinda sentimental too.

If it weren't for the sentimental thing I would say don't do it, but it's not any more crazy than a lot of swaps done to rigs that are already 4x4 s. It's just going to take a lot of time,money,and parts.and a welder and some fabricating skill ,and at least a couple things I forgot to mention. good luck[cheers]

Sweet...thanks for the good luck...I know I'll need it. But I'll tell ya...after all is said and done, and I'm pullin my boyfriend and his truck out of the mud, it will all be worth it...OH YEAH!! :)

When I did mine ,found a 4x4 frame . If I was do it again would just use
stock coil buckets and build radius arm front .

[36] find a 78-9 f250 4x4 so many parts are different
between 2wd and 4x4
use your cab box etc
having parts truck will saye time &money
and trips to auto wreckers
you re on the right track by asking for info
and ideas good on ya
gona be a cool project
