View Full Version : New Life to my old dodge

02-25-2010, 12:21 AM
Truck is going into the painter this weekend, probably be a month tell I get it back and take pics. Thought you'd all like to check it out as it goes.

First pic is my truck 2 years ago....not so shiny anymore

Second pic is someone else's truck I photoshopped to get my paint sheme. .....My truck will probably have the stack as well....truck is pretty loud, i feel bad for peoply I drive by, so might as well point the noise up[36]and the coal:D
It wont be nearly as high either. Depending on the highway manners I will do a lot of trimming to fit a set of michelin xl's 38's in the fenders. As well as a new set of 3" springs without blocks in the rear. That wont be for a few months yet though. I still have to buy a groover for them :D

Tell me whatcha think[cheers]

Sweet Dodge ,

02-25-2010, 09:09 AM
looks like my truck

02-25-2010, 10:26 AM
looks good a bit too much of the silver i think though, maybe bring down the black a bit farther

02-25-2010, 10:53 AM

I have to agree bring the black down to the first body line njust under the mirror that would look kill

02-25-2010, 12:37 PM
It'll look sick!

02-25-2010, 08:08 PM
Thanks guys! I'll photoshop something up with the black following the other body lines see how it looks. I do like where the lines are now, but yea never know a little less silver could look bitching:D

02-25-2010, 08:19 PM
id leave they way you got it photoshopped now it looks dam fine [cheers]

02-25-2010, 09:03 PM
Well I tried it with the black following the other body lines, but I didn't really like it, looked a little weird....not enough silver. Everything will be blacked out so I think the amount of silver will be just right.

As well I will be trimming the fenders 2-3 inches so that I can fit bigger tires without much lift, kinda like this next picture. No changes in paint, but the fenders are trimmed and it is lowered about 5 inches from the previous picture

03-01-2010, 09:35 PM
that truck is fucking sweet man!![36]

03-01-2010, 11:36 PM
Sharp lookin dodge [36]

03-01-2010, 11:45 PM
That's gonna look sweet when it's done.

03-03-2010, 04:38 PM
Thanks guys,

Took it apart this weekend, my body guy is going to start trimming the fenders up 2 inches....will look near stock when done and should give me some more clearance for these 38 inch tires.
Will be a couple months in the works as it is a weekend project for him, sit tight as I will have pictures up soon :D

03-04-2010, 10:04 AM

03-04-2010, 08:38 PM

03-07-2010, 09:47 PM

03-09-2010, 06:02 PM
Thanks guys, i'll be heading down this weekend to do a bunch of work.
Stripping all the chrome, trimming the fenders and hopefully lay some black on the doors and front fenders. I will take pictures of my progress and post up next week.

03-12-2010, 06:01 PM

04-08-2010, 08:24 AM
Well I finally have some progress pictures to show you guys.
Hopefully this weekend black will be sprayed oh yeah
I'll keep you all updated.

Oh and tell me what you think about the fender trimming [36]

04-08-2010, 10:33 AM
Trimming looks great, whats your plan for the front inner fender wells?

Im gonna be trimming up my 75 this weekend. Its in my head but not sure how well my idea will actually work till im doing it lol. Im gonna be running 35's on 1/2 ton with no lift [36]

04-08-2010, 11:42 AM

Well the way I trimmed the fenders, I left the top three holes for the splash guards to bolt back up. The sides will have to be modified to fit, but by the looks of it it wont be too hard. I will post pictures of how I did it in a couple weeks[36]

04-08-2010, 12:33 PM
Yeah, I have to take the top bolts out too my plan is to cut the inner fender back a few inches, then straiten the lip down, make stress cuts and fold the entire outer fender back at the lip line into the inner. Mines the fatter lip so will open my wheelwell up a good 2 inches, and no sharp edges.

I did my 85 ramcharger kinda like yours, but a lazy way. Then i just hammered the inner back at the front and rear but the tires kept catching and makin a mess of my hammerjob. You seem to be doin it up nice.

04-08-2010, 03:09 PM
Hmm, thats a really good idea! Why didn't I think of that? Oh well too late now :D
You have any pictures of your ramcharger? What size tires did you run?

04-08-2010, 03:21 PM
I ran 35x12.5 BFG muds on it with 0 lift. It was ok would rub a little when Id hit a rut or bump hard but other then that was ok. Im at work Ill look for pics later

Heres a utube video of it, that was my last trip with it, miss that old beast!

nice build love the first gens.. heres my power wagon with a first gen cummins in it http://www.funinbc.com/forum/showthread.php?t=79467

04-08-2010, 06:37 PM
Awesome wagon and ramcharger[36]

You definitely cant beat a first gen:D I've owned third gen diesels, second gen diesels and now my first gen, and I literally WOULDN'T trade my truck for either of the new generation dodges. Don't get me wrong I love all dodges, but they just don't build them like they used to, these days everything is built to fall apart. They built these first gens like tanks!

04-08-2010, 07:35 PM
thanks!!! yes and mine rides like a tank too but hooks hard tho so gotta put up with the ride till I can 4link it

04-08-2010, 09:30 PM
I like!!!!

04-09-2010, 07:53 AM

Yeah I have been considering building a keldermen style airride set up for my truck for that exact reason bronco. Apparently it works wonders for our trucks

04-12-2010, 07:41 PM
Little update.

Major body work is done
High build primer is being blocked, epoxy sealed and sprayed HotRod Black this week.
If all goes well, the silver will be very shortly afterhttp://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/images/smilies/guitarist.gif

Next to come once truck is painted.

Bed-line entire lower section of body that gets pelted with rocks, as well as 2 inches above fender lip.
Cross-over steering and 3 inch lift. Unsure of clearance issues yet, may have to bend link to clear cross-member. Or run a reverse rotation gearbox...

Here are some pictures I took with the military tires mounted on the truck. Definitely no clearance issues with the fendershttp://www.dieseltruckresource.com/dev/images/smilies/laughing.gif

06-09-2010, 11:38 PM
Some updated pictures for you all[36]

Took a good long break from going back and forth from the okanagan to vancouver every weekend. Will be heading back again with a set of 37x13.50R18 tires and wheels to throw on :D I will post pictures of the truck with the tires on after the weekend.

For now, check out the new paint!!oh yeah

08-03-2010, 04:37 PM
wow that looks awesome

08-03-2010, 04:55 PM
did u build the bumpers or a shop or factory built?

08-03-2010, 06:37 PM
Thanks guys[36]

Hey Troy, had a guy from Arizona build them for me, most good aftermarket bumpers you can find for these first gens are either ugly or too expensive. Even with the shipping I still saved a thousand dollars as compared to front and rear aftermarket bumpers.
