NEIGHBOR'S TRANNY WENT IN HIS MID 70'S FORD F350 4X4. IT WAS AN AUTOMATIC SO LOOKING FOR AN AUTOMATIC. WE FOUND A SOURCE FOR ONE BUT THE SELLER NEEDS TO KNOW WHAT ENGINE IS IN IT. WHERE DO WE LOOK FOR THE ENGINE ID? ALSO HOW DO YOU ID THE T-CASE AND TRANNY?

most fords put the engine displacement on a sticker on the valve cover. if its a 4x4 chances are really good its FE engine with a 360 or 390 ci displacement. if the valve cover has 5 bolts its an FE(360/390), if it has 7 bolts its a 460/429. as far as i know they didnt put 429,460 engines in 4x4's untill 1977. ive got c6 auto tranny for an FE engine for sale for a divorced t case truck if you need one. to ID a c6 it has 17 pan bolts. and the t case will be a NP 205 if it is a f350. but if you want to make sure there will be ID tag riveted on that will have make and model #.
