The Wife and I went in yesterday all I have to say to everyone is don't bother. It is very misleading on the TV they tell you there is loads of free stuff to do but there is not we went down to BC place to checkout the Free Pavillions they were all closed to the public for private functions [16] Even the Olympic Flame is fenced off from the public you can only take pics from 1 area through a fence[16]

This is just not my opinion Trina I travelled in on the West Coast Express it was full to capacity and everyone that was within my earshot was of the same opinion thyat was it sucked. Vanoc should not advertise that something is free when it clearly is only free to those with tickets.

I was down there friday for the opening ceremonies and again today, basically did the same walk as you, just stopped a bit past the rowing club.

I don't get what all the bitching is about, I had a great time. Friday went around the olympic village a bit then went up walked granville, went up robson a bit for dinner, then to robson square for the big party. Funnest time I've had downtown in years, atmosphere was amazing, didn't give two shits that it was raining.

Today went saw the flame then walked the seawall a bit, again great atmosphere, especially walking back right as we wont our first gold. Then again I was just happy to be outside with my girl on a beautiful day with so many people around that seemed to be having a good time as well, but I don't generally need shiny things to amuse me the simple things are good enough

not trying to be a bitch here :D but I knew it was only free to ticket holders :dontknow: cause they did advertise that and if you seriously thought transit was going to be free.... well thats just silly talk :p

how you experience the situation is entirely up to you as well. You could see it as wasting time standing in line to do stuff, or you could see it as an adventure, while your in line you get to spend good quality time with your family or whoever you are with, you get to people watch :D you get to meet new people. Its a proven fact that negative energy breeds negative energy and vice versa with positive. If you are stuck on a crowded bus or what have you and one person starts bitching and complaining, the surrounding people will start too. Turn it around, be positive, find the fun in it.

Its your choice how you experience a situation.........

just sayin....... :D

Saxony a country which used to belong to Germany has their house at the rowing club in Stanley Park just as you enter. Its a great venue and they have some excellent beer and food.

The rest of the stuff is accessible to the public during the day.

An Tuna thanks for not calling me when your two blocks from my place

Actually they did not say that the pavillions were going to be for ticket holders only . They did infact state that they were free to all with the exception of a $10 entrance fee for the Molson house this was not the case all of the pavillions I attempted to gain entrance to were closed for PRIVATE V.I.P parties [16] I also tried to gain entrance to the Molson pavillion I was again turned away because there was a private party being held in there. They did however say that my Wife and I could usev the V.I.P. lounge at a charge of $490 each:eek:
As for transit of course I am not stupid enough to think it was going to be free they charged me $21 return back to Mission for both my Wife and I ($42 in total) which is kinda wierd as its normally $15 each return :confused0006:
As for negativity when you get ripped off you tend to get negative real quick [f]

I thought Saxony was a PROVINCE of germany?... I could be wrong here.

As for the Cauldron... There's now an observation deck to go up and view it without havingto look through the fence.. and... even from the fence.. it's kind of cool.. especially when you realize that this is the closest the general public has ever been to the flame.. it's usually on top of a stadium or something. Just sayin'. Going down again this weekend with the girls.. was down there picking up my GF from work the other day.. I struck up a few conversations with folks from out of town... most seem to be having a great time.

Those of you that know me know that I'm EXTREMELY shy and very rarely speak to anyone... so if I can have fun.. anyone can...:D

I'm just coming home from live City and waterfront it was a coool atmosphere te viewig deck was cool it only took 20mins in line. We gonna go see the stuff round science world and fm place Monday. I found all te downtown was good for wa walking round lines were too long for everything but awesome atmosphere and people every two mins oh Canada or ole ole breaks out as well as random burst o can flags ad mad cheering. I can't wait to see all the pavillions and Sochi I'll post all pics after Monday
