This is the rear I was told it was a dana 80 but It dont look like one to me its in 97 dodge ram 2500 with a 5.9 gas and 5spd was told all the manual trans came with the dana 80 in the rear

That is definately not a Dana 80, looks like a 60 possibly a 70

On the pumpkin casting there will be a 60 or a 70 cast right on it, usually right by one of the axle tubes

Looks like a 60 to me.

I'd say 60 as well

Thats what im thinking it d60 if it is than it will give a better gear range I can choose from. I will go check for the # tomorrow. Was thinking going from 4:10 to 4:56 for the 35's and the hauling of a camper and such.

If you don't find it under the hood get under it with a scraper a rag and some kind of solvent ,all dana axles have thier number stamped into them, usually in the webbing somewhere.

Looks d60 to me. A d 80 would also have it stamed in the diff cover allong with gear ratio and other info. Looks like you got the #'s in your pix, just can't read them

And the number will be cast in, not stamped.

http://www.coloradok5.com/axleguide.shtml here u can compare all of them with this link according to that its probably a 60 since its gas
