View Full Version : Arizona Snow

A long overdue post! Life seems to be so busy. Taz and I are enjoying another winter in Arizona. We get to fit in rides on the Harley with adventures off road.

We met up with some local folks in the Kingman Arizona area who were heading up the mountains in search of snow. Not sure why this is weird to me, but we drove 1500 miles to escape that white stuff. Oh well, how bad can it be for just a day?

We headed on a trail called Moss Wash that was adopted by the Walapai 4 Wheelers, who were the folks we were riding with that day. It's a class 3.5 and recommend 35" tires and up with at least 1 locker. No deterent for Taz, we go up anyways.

Along the first part of the trail we encounter a few fun waterfalls to climb.

Chosing the wrong line resulted in Rob getting stuck on his diff

Cool thing about being put in the middle in case Taz needed some tugs or pulls means that he gets bragging rights on freeing up Rob's rig:)

We skirt around that section and up to the Gold King Mansion.

The Gold King Mansion was built in 1927 and a rare concrete building, especially in the middle of no where.

Onwards and upwards, Taz gets hung up on a rock that is a little much for the clearance. Pushing the little Zuke is easier than setting up the tow straps. Rob feels better now. A new approach gets us up and over.

A few more shots heading up

We finally hit the snow lines and I remember why I don't like snow and steep cliffs on my side. No pictures of those, I was gripping the wholy crap bars and wasn't letting go.

Finally back into the trees, we are almost there when we find the road blocked.

We were done on this trail, had to backtrack a couple miles and take another route.

A pleasurable run all in all. Fun to get out with some locals and enjoy life.

Cheers to all of you, and Merry Christmas!
