well i have gone through another motor mount while havin fun.. not a bigg issue but on a longer trip(like the spudspudspudspudspud!!) i dont want to pop another one and have to take it easier...
soo what im askin is....(for those of u that have done motormount stuff)
would u drill out the center of a new one and grd 8 bolt it together
put a better brand in (please reccomend brand if u have had good luck with the product)..
or really am i only gonna be happy with a fabbed one???? .....
...... what have you guys done???..
just thaught id ask b4 i do what i planned to do....

grade 5 good...grade 8 is good for tensile strength, but not shear

get the trailgear bomb proof ones (If you dont mind vibration) then weld about 3 links of chains from your frame to the mount . It will torque up the chain before it even puts alot of pressure on the mount , and even in the rare case it does tear through the chain it will not break that mount . my vote goes to trailgear bombproof motor mounts , and a few links of chains and never worry about it again . I run duals on stock motor mounts with chains and have never even broke a mount and I wheel 4 times a week ... and I wheel the piss outa the poor thing

i popped 2 stock motor mounts in the past year.
theres a big thread on pirate about drillin out the centre of the stocks and putting the bolt through, most good replies but lots said they would always pop the bolt.
ive had the bomb proofs in for about 4 months now and lovin it, there is more vibration, grill used to just rattle till we strapped it down better.
i didnt bother with putting the chain in cause they are "guranteed" so if they do break one day ill just swap a new set in...
new set of stock mounts is roughly 70 bucks, bomb proof mounts are 90US.
and shifters wont move around as much

Get a mount from Toyota.
I used to pop the left side about every 2 years with aftermarket mounts. since I changed to OEM no problem.

Do you run duals, or t-case gears? If you do, it'll make it worse.
What do you use for a t-case mount? Stock as well? If you have a solid t-case mount, it will put way more stress on the rubber engine mounts. You should always use the same kind of style at both ends.
How about oil leaks? Oil will soften the rubber.
I vote for fabbed ones. I used spring bushings with a bolt through. Gives more vibes, but it won't break.
Or if you're lazy, I'm sure those Trail Gear ones would work.:confused0006:
