will be posting pics next weekend once i get the truck in possesion and start the build....

trying to do it fast cause i dont want to miss too much of the winter wheeling

Iv got new heads and headers for a 4.3L pre vortec motor its off a 90 I bought it for my old s-10 then moved and sold the ole truck, cheap cheap if you want want they are takin up space in my shop

12-10-2009, 08:24 PM
i also have a new cam and roller lifters for a tbi 4.3 ,

a tbi is around 160 hp stock and a cpi vortec is 190 hp and 5 inches shorter than a 350

Why not just put in a 205? Better to hold the power.

12-11-2009, 04:34 PM
would the 205 be the better option rather than the toy case ???

no 350... 4.3 on propane... should do just fine...

anyone know what kind of gear ratio i should use in my axles.... i have a few sitting around....
:D [36]

12-11-2009, 11:21 PM
I vote duel toy tcases 2.28 x 2 = 4.56:1 reduction
205 192:1
I think propane sucks on a trail truck and an engine that came with fuel injection

Propane is awsome on the trail. and on a vortech, I haven't tried it yet, but will be in the very neer future. I have a awd van that's sacrificing itself for a landcruiser.

The 205 isn't a monster low gear unit for sure,1.92:1 is not a good crawl ratio, but what's your goal? If your doing this on a budget, then ditch the toy case and go all chev. Build driveshafts with chev at one end and toy at the axles. Much cheaper than the toy case to chev addapter plate.

If your running the 700r4, the 205 isn't s direct bolt on. Not sure what t-case your blazer will have, but most of them have 2.5 or higher. Can you just run the stock blazer peices for now? your probably going to have enough potential problems without added mods. If the setup works in the blazer, why not put it in the toy? It's way lighter. If the drop is on the wrong side, there were lots of chevs with a 700r4 running a 208. I know a 208 is nothing special, but your not putting out 800hp.

And johny 5, your math is wrong. It's 2.28x2.28=5.1984

12-12-2009, 08:31 AM
eh................ 2.28x2 is 4.56

eh................ 2.28x2 is 4.56

the math there is correct, but the second tcase wouldn't be a 2:1 ratio.

if you had t trannie with a 7:1 ratio, your doublw low wouldn't be 7x2+14, it would be 7x7=49. How do you calculate your axle then? if your tranny is a 7:1 and yout tranny is a 2:1 and your axle is it 5.38:1 do you say I have 1 tranny, 1 t-case and 1 axle, so my final ratio is 1x1x1=1.

And propane is awsome for wheelin, and if you bring your bbq, you can run that too.

i still have a adapter for a 700r4 to toy t-case adapter but no out put shaft. i am pretty sure let me check

12-15-2009, 07:25 PM
i already orderd it from slow chore off road... they told me 3 weeks...

sorry... maybe if you had the outputshaft and i knew before hand...:D

My sewing machine has over 300 000 kms on some of the parts.

Keep me updated on the swap as I am thinking of doing the same thing to my 82 next year when I turn it into a truggy.

01-01-2010, 05:38 PM
will do... should post pics when i get the kit and the engine together...

my 22 re has 344 k's on it... should last till 4oo plus now with the new chain in it...

01-28-2010, 03:00 PM
ive done this swap using a 93' cpi vortec into a 2nd gen.. wiring was the most painful.. ended up using a howell harness in the end. Didn't go with the gm tran/case ended up getting a AA custom bellhousing to mate the r150.. costly. If i was gonna redo id probably just stick with the 700r4..

01-28-2010, 03:19 PM
I just know those blazer 4.3 suckssss

01-28-2010, 03:20 PM
