So 3 ubolts and two bolts?? Weird. I just pulled out my dana 44 and put the dana 60 underneath. I had to buy a large diameter ubolt last night along with 2 longer bolts. I bought grade 8 bolts since I figure thats best? How many ft\lbs do I tighten the 2 bolts, and the u-bolts?

Heres the dana 60 install. Pulled the dana 60 out of this brown truck....

it is fairly common to strip the threads outa the casting
would be better to use studs that can be bottomed with full thread engagement

i think pro comp makes a u bolt kit for the 60. 2 studs and 3 u bolts. studs are wayyyy better than the bolts.

The bolts came out with blue locktite on them plus the holes are 1.5+" deep. So I put longer grade 8 bolts in with blue loctite and 130 ft/lbs. The bolts that came out were grade 5 I think. I wonder if grade 8 is to brittle for the jarring of rock krawling? Next time I'll put studs in.[36]

depends on the size of bolts call a spring shop they'll know the u-bolts on my truck are 180 ft-lbs

just crank the u bolts with a 1/2'' gun till it stops turning. grade 5 bolts are fine for that diameter. grade 8 too brittle? dont think so, the threads will strip out of the housing before the bolt snaps.

if you use new u bolts make sure to re-tighten them after a couple weeks of driving, loose u bolts can cause alot of headaches and problems

I agree here m j, I've got a long anvil IR Titanium at work....it's nicknamed the stud snapper....and our line pressure due to a couple of machines is at 150 PSI.....stud snapper....lives up to it's name if ya let it.....
