ok fine i finally admit FORDS SUCK!
not really, but mine does now.

had a vibration at 55mph, a wobble while steering sharp, and a pull to the right.

jacked it up

1. tie rod end is hooped, when u turn side to side it wiggles like a fish outta water.
2. upper ball joints are extremely worn and its basically resting on the lowers only, which are also worn.

does anyone have the tools/shop and or need for cash to help out with at least upper ball joints?

also, completely unrelated, it seems at full flex my hubs just ratchet or arent engaged at all, just put warm premiums in and they work like a charm until im twisted up. fml?

If it has leaf springs, its a D50 if it has coils its a D44.

Thats for the full size TTB crap.

my f250 came with leaf spring front end with 8 bolt dana 44.
my brother had diesel f250 leaf spring again. both TTB but his was dana 50
l blew up the hub on my 44 and had too much trouble looking for a dana 44 8bolt so l got the 60 now.
the one that was on the truck in question is a 8 bolt dana 44.
l looked at it on the newbie run.

if you are getting a full front end set up out of a diesel truck including springs. eveything should just bolt right in. just you will then have a dana 50 ttb

thrillbilly
10-21-2009, 04:36 PM
dont want to challenge you but theres definately two sizes for leaf sprung ttb...?!

mines the smaller of the two, and theres also whatevers in the HD ones ive seen the hub size difference.

im pretty sure???

yaya ok so i have d44 ttb junk right now.

the one being sold has diesel leafs but claims to be d44, could be just diffrent leaf packs on or he could be mistaken and its a 50.

either way its much cheaper than the shop wanting 900buck. [36]

i've never even heard of a TTB leaf sprung D44.
let alone a D44 under a diesel

wheel bearings in a 44 won't hold up to the weight of a diesel

:s30x: the ttb 44 did come leaf sprung but l cant see a 44 under a diesel.

the diesel f250 is a hd and has the same frame and etc. as the f350... the only main differnce is the ttb 50 rather than the 60 i would assume that the diesel springs where added and yes gas f250 came in hd and non hd so it is more than possible to have the dana 44 under a f250

i have owned 3 88 f250s with the 7.3L diesel, 2 had the d50 and 1 had the d44, the spindle, bearings and brakes are larger than the 1/2 ton version, but i belive the axle shafts are the same... and they use the same ball joints. i.m.o, dont waste your $ on cheep ball joints, or youll be replacing them in a year. like i had to. i belive the lower was arround $60 and the upper was $90 and if you change the lower you will want to do the upper at the same time.

thrillbilly
10-22-2009, 04:41 PM

rockauto sells good stuff.
there are a lota choices for balljoints to fit your truck on rockauto, I just copy'd the motorcraft ones as that is what a ford stealership would install
they werent the cheapest or the most expensive, kinda in da middle

no the 302 is v8 gas and the 300 is a inline 6 gas.

thrillbilly

correct. my buddy has a 1989 F-250 4x4 that was originally a 300-6 with a TTB D44 and semi floater 10.25. We got the front D50 and rear Full Floater 10.25 out of a 95 F-250 Powerstroke Diesel when the guy went to Solid D60 front, and D60 rear.

Stuck a 351W 5spd in it and never looked back :)
